Be a part of the TCS New York City Marathon weekend festivities at the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K on Saturday, November 4th. Runners will zip through the streets of Midtown Manhattan and finish at the famed marathon finish line in Central Park—without running 26.2 miles! Friends and family, marathoners and non-marathoners—all are welcome.

USATF 5K Championships

The USATF 5K Road Championships and USATF National Youth 5K Championships will be held as part of the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon weekend. The 5K youth race will take place Saturday November 4, 2023 prior to the USATF 5K Road Championships and the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K. Youth participants will follow the same route as the adults through Midtown Manhattan, finishing at the famed New York City Marathon finish line in Central Park. Qualifying standards can be found at USATF.org.

Numbers (which include your timing tag) may be picked up at the NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the New Balance Run Hub at 320 West 57th Street (between Eighth and Ninth avenues) on the following dates.

Starting November 2, race numbers will be available ONLY at the TCS New York City Marathon Expo Presented by New Balance, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, Halls 3B, 3D, and 3E, located on 11th Avenue at West 35th Street; absolutely no race numbers will be available on race morning.

All participants will receive a New Balance Beanie at number pickup.

Show your race confirmation email or the QR code from your NYRR account to pick up your race materials. Proxy bib pickup is available for this race, so a friend or family member can pick up your race materials. The person will need the QR code for your NYRR account, along with a form of photo identification that corresponds to your NYRR account.

Start Location

Start corrals will be on First Avenue north of East 44th Street and west of First Avenue on East 47th Street. Corrals will open after 7:00 a.m. and will close at 8:45 a.m.

Mile 1: Start at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza on First Avenue at East 44th Street and head south. Turn right on East 42nd Street and head west. Turn right (north) onto Sixth Avenue just before the mile 1 marker.

Mile 2: Proceed up Sixth Avenue toward Central Park and turn right on Central Park South/West 59th Street. Just before the mile 2 marker, turn left into Central Park at Grand Army Plaza.

Mile 3: Proceed into the park, then turn left onto West Drive. Curve around the bottom of the park toward the TCS New York City Marathon finish line, on West Drive at 67th Street.

Bag Check

 

Bag check will be available on race morning beginning at 7:15 a.m. at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park (below the 72nd Street Transverse). Bag check is only available in Central Park and not at the start.

Please note: There will be no bag check location in the start area; if you plan to check a bag, please allow yourself enough time to travel from the bag check area to the start corrals (approximately 2 miles) in time for the start of the race.

Planning to check a bag on race morning? While we will continue to have clear plastic bags available at number pickup, we encourage you to use your own clear reusable plastic bag, no larger than 17" wide x 20" high x 7" deep, with the tag affixed.

For the pro field, awards will be presented on-site to the top men and women finishers.

Runners who place in the top-three of their age group will be able to claim an award in the days following the race by filling out our Age-Group Awards Claim Form.

Prize Money

 

NYRR Member Division

Prize money amounts equal for men, women, and non-binary categories. To be eligible for NYRR Member Division prize money, including team money, runners must have been NYRR member since at least August 4, 2022, including the date of the race, and must complete the course in 21 minutes or less. If NYRR cancels an offering on the direction of local, city, or state authorities, participants will be informed as soon as possible, including communication of participant resolution options. Events will not be rescheduled.
