Get ready for an unforgettable day of fun at the inaugural Rising NYRR at the NYRR Staten Island Half event in the scenic SIUH Community Park! Watch your kids light up as they dash alongside new friends, all while soaking in the breathtaking views of New York Harbor.

Registration for this event is FREE and open to participants ages 2 to 11 of all abilities that are new to running and physical activity, for non-competitive short dashes. Every finisher will receive a New Balance fanny pack. Please note that souvenirs are subject to availability.

Why Run with Rising New York Road Runners?

Rising New York Road Runners events are designed to be fun, inclusive, and an opportunity for our youth to see what they are capable of. Registration for all Rising New York Road Runners events is completely free and made possible by the generosity of our community.

The chart below is a guide to the stages available. Use the chart to determine the appropriate stage for your child. If you need help determining your child's stage, contact our Runner Services team.

1 2 to 11 Non-competitive
Untimed shorter distances
Fitness activities		 Your child is new to physical activity or running, but likes playing games and being active.
2 8 to 18 Non-competitive
Untimed medium distances
Fitness activities		 Your child likes running, but isn’t ready for a competitive event. Your child likes playing games and being active.
3 12 to 18 Competitive
Timed longer distances
Fitness activities		 Your child is comfortable running a longer distance and racing other kids in a competitive setting.

Notes on Registration

 
  • We’ve updated our website to increase inclusivity and representation in our races. Parents/guardians can register youth runners as girl, boy, or non-binary. Visit our FAQ page for more information on how to update your profile.

Race Number Pickup

 

Race numbers may be picked up at the NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the New Balance Run Hub at 320 West 57th Street (between Eighth and Ninth avenues) on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, October 1, 9:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 2, 9:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 3, 9:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, October 4, 9:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 5, 9:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, October 6, 9:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
  • Monday, October 7, 9:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 8, 9:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 9, 9:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 10, 9:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, October 11, 9:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.

Parents and guardians of runners are encouraged to pick up their bibs at the RUNCENTER to avoid race day lines. 

On race day, number pickup will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Race-Day Central located on the concourse level inside the stadium at SIUH Community Park. If you plan to pick up a runner's race number on race day, please arrive at least 60 minutes before the start of their run.

Schedule of Events

 

Participants should report to the staging area (starts separated by age group) 10 minutes before the start of their run. Please note that dashes for age groups within Stage 1 will start on a rolling schedule; refer to the estimated start times listed below.

Participants will run short dashes of various distances. See the Schedule of Events section for the estimated distances each age group in Stage 1 will run. 

We strongly recommend checking mta.info before you travel. You can also message the MTA on WhatsApp.

Souvenirs

 

Finishers will receive a New Balance fanny pack. Please note that souvenirs are subject to availability.

Souvenirs will only be distributed on race day from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Race-Day Central located on the concourse level inside the stadium at SIUH Community Park. A youth race number must be presented to collect the event souvenir.

Cancellation Policy

 

If NYRR cancels an offering on the direction of local, city, or state authorities, participants will be informed as soon as possible, including communication of participant resolution options. Events will not be rescheduled.
