What is NYRR Striders?
New York Road Runners offers free, coach-led walking sessions every week in senior centers, neighborhood facilities, and local parks. NYRR Striders is easy to join and aims to improve attitudes toward exercise while making running and walking more accessible for older adults. All ages and abilities are welcome—come one, come all!
Each session includes:
- An opportunity to gather with peers in a fun, social environment
- 30-45 minutes of walking (indoor or outdoor) to build endurance levels
- Strength exercises, fitness activities, and stretching movements to improve balance and flexibility
- Active conversations on nutrition and best practices for healthy living
