Planning your 2021 New Year’s resolutions might look a little different this year. Take the first step by setting an achievable goal with the Virtual NYRR Resolution Run 5K Powered by Strava and start 2021 with a win.
Whether this is your first 5K or your 100th 5K, checking off that early win will help motivate you to keep running throughout 2021 and set the foundation to tackle bigger goals later on. Take on your 3.1 miles with thousands of other runners worldwide anytime January 1 through January 17. And when you do cross off that first 5K of the year, share with this community how you plan to #ResolveToRun in the new year.
Most people give up on their New Year’s resolutions just a few weeks into January, so connect with your fellow runners virtually for additional motivation to stay on course:
- Race your friends and family in real time wherever you are in the world using the NYRR Racing app. The Virtual NYRR Resolution Run 5K course takes you from Central Park to the Times Square ball drop as we virtually celebrate the beginning of 2021 together as one running community. You can also listen to inspiring audio cues along this iconic New York City course
- Select the “Premium” tier during the registration process to gain access to the NYRR racing app. Use of the NYRR Racing app is optional and requires an upload to Strava to officially complete your race.
- Join the NYRR Volvo Virtual Racing Facebook group for daily inspiration from the virtual racing community year-round. Get racing tips and support from both beginners and experienced runners from around the world.

While general entry is free, you can also purchase entry for this race to begin or to continue your journey to earning guaranteed, non-complimentary entry to the 2022 NYRR Brooklyn Half as part of the NYRR Virtual 6 program.
