Kurt Fearnley of Australia has five New York City Marathon titles to his name (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2014)—tied with Tatyana McFadden for the most of any athlete in the wheelchair division—and his event-record time of 1:29:22 from 2006 still stands.

Fearnley has captured 13 medals across five Paralympic Games, including a silver in the marathon and bronze in the 5000 meters at the Rio 2016 Games where he served as Australia’s co-captain. He has also won marathons in London, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seoul, Rome, Paris, Sydney, and Tokyo.
