Location | Mile Mark | Time |
---|---|---|
Athletes must reach the Brooklyn Bridge (via Brooklyn Bridge Blvd.) | 4.1-mile mark | by 11:00 a.m. |
Athletes must reach the FDR-bound off-ramp of the Brooklyn Bridge (to access the FDR Drive) | 5.4-mile mark | by 11:30 a.m. |
Athletes must exit the FDR Drive (to access the 42nd St. exit ramp) | 9.4-mile mark | by 12:50 p.m. |
Athletes must cross the finish line (in Central Park) | 13.1-mile mark | by 2:00 p.m. |
The United Airlines NYC Half finish line will close at 2:00 p.m., approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes after the final participant crosses the start line. This timing allows for the road re-opening to start. Athletes will not be eligible for any reimbursement of event fees, regardless of whether they complete the course.
Brooklyn Bridge
The United Airlines NYC Half Brooklyn Bridge athlete access will close at 11:00 a.m., approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes after the final participant crosses the start line. For an athlete in Wave 5, crossing the start line at approximately 9:30 a.m., they will be required to maintain a 20:00 minute/per mile pace or faster to access the bridge.
- Any athlete who does not reach Brooklyn Bridge Blvd. and Tillary St. by 11:00 a.m. will be directed to the bridge’s pedestrian pathway if they would like to cross and access Lower Manhattan for MTA subway service.
- Athletes have the option to take the subway home or to the finish area to pick up their checked bags. Athletes can also choose to take one of our sweep buses to the finish area. NYRR staff located at the Brooklyn Bridge will provide MTA metro cards upon request to any athlete who reaches Brooklyn Bridge Blvd. between 11 a.m. and when the sweep bus arrives at the entrance to the bridge.
- Athletes also have the option not to cross the Brooklyn Bridge at all and depart from Brooklyn on their own.
FDR Drive
Athlete access to the FDR Drive from the Brooklyn Bridge will close at 11:30 a.m. Athletes who are crossing the Brooklyn Bridge roadway but have not reached the FDR Drive exit by that time will be directed to either board one of our sweep buses or, if time permits before the re-opening of the Brooklyn Bridge, exit the Brooklyn Bridge onto Centre Street.
For athletes who are on FDR Drive in the United Airlines NYC Half, access to the course will end on a rolling basis in line with our sweep procedure, which will be based on an approximately 20:00 minute/per mile pace from the start line beginning at 9:40 a.m.

Athletes who are picked up on the FDR Drive have the option to ride the sweep bus to the finish or get out on 42nd St. and 1st Ave. and continue the United Airlines NYC Half on the sidewalk to the finish line. Even if these athletes then cross the finish line before 2:00 p.m. they will be considered a post-race participant and will not appear in the official finisher results.
Important Info
Once roads begin to reopen to vehicular traffic, course infrastructure (such as timing systems, course clocks, medical stations, and water stations) will all begin to close. Runners on the course after this time should know that they will be on their own and plan accordingly.
Beginning Monday, March 17, any athletes with questions, or requiring additional support, are encouraged to contact our Runner Services Department.
