This July for Disability Pride Month we celebrate athletes of all abilities and commemorate the anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26.

Youth Wheelchair Athletes Compete at Junior Nationals

This week, for the first time, four members of the Rising New York Road Runners Wheelchair Training Program are competing at the Move United Junior Nationals, a national track and field meet for youth athletes with disabilities taking place in Denver, Colorado.

"What Can I Do for Others?"

Dick Traum lost his right leg in an accident when he was 24. At 35 he became the first known amputee runner to complete a marathon, and he later founded Achilles International. This year, at 80, he'll line up for his 27th New York City Marathon.

Deb Marcuccilli's Journey to the New York City Marathon Finish Line—And Beyond


The first known female bilateral amputee to complete a marathon, in New York in 1994, Deb Marcuccilli is finally getting the recognition she deserves.

Today she looks back on a life in which she's embraced challenges with courage, humor, and determination and never let her disability limit or define her.
