The United Airlines NYC Half is back for 2022!

The 2020 in-person race was canceled at the start of the pandemic, which also kept it off the NYRR calendar in 2021. Now, runners have the opportunity to claim their guaranteed entry or apply to run on Sunday, March 20, 2022.

This race is special in so many ways, from its iconic course to the all-star field of pro runners. It's truly the One to Run.

We put together 13.1 great reasons why you should claim your spot or apply to the drawing. The window to claim your entry or submit your application is November 18–December 1, 2021; the drawing is December 8.

1. You Can Set an Awesome Goal for 2022

With the new year around the corner, you're probably looking for a goal to motivate you to get—or stay—fit through the winter and into spring. At 13.1 miles, the half-marathon is the perfect distance—a goal that's challenging, but achievable.

3. You'll Be a Part of NYC’s Ongoing Recovery

4. You'll Race Through NYC Streets in Two Boroughs

The 2021 TCS New York City Marathon showed the magic of running through the streets of NYC—connecting neighborhoods, crossing bridges, bringing out cheering crowds of spectators—and the 2022 United Airlines NYC Half will give even more runners that amazing experience.

5. You'll Run a Spectacular Course

The NYC Half began in 2006; the 2022 race will be the 15th in-person running of this iconic event. Though the course has changed, each race has featured a thrilling run through Times Square—the only time other than New Year’s Eve that this landmark is closed to vehicles.

10. You Can Guarantee Your Entry and Support NYRR Youth Programs...

NYRR’s charity program, Team for Kids, supports our nationwide running and fitness platform serving 240,000 children. As a Team for Kids runner, you get guaranteed entry to the race, training support, and race-day perks. Learn more and register.

11. ...Or Run for a Charity

You can run for one of a number of other charities; a full list of United Airlines NYC Half official charity partners will be available on December 8.

12. You'll Enjoy Great Weather

No promises, but the mid-March race date has delivered up ideal running conditions in many years of this race—cold (but not frigid) and clear.

13. You Can Make It a Destination

With travel bans from many countries now lifted, the 2022 United Airlines NYC Half is an opportunity for international runners to plan a destination race in NYC. Consider booking your trip and guaranteeing your entry through one of our International Tour Operators around the world.
