New York Road Runners Statement on Cancellation of In-Person Events and Programs Through August 15

Press Releases

New York, May 13, 2020 Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and in consultation with city officials, all New York Road Runners (NYRR) in-person events and programs have been canceled through August 15. This extends the previous cancellation period, which ran through June 30, and includes the following races: NYRR Retro 4-Miler on July 11, NYRR Brooklyn R-U-N 5K on July 13, TCS New York City Marathon Training Series 10M on July 18, NYRR Team Championships on August 1, TCS New York City Marathon Training Series 12M on August 9, and NYRR Grete’s Great Gallop 10K on August 15.

Since the first coronavirus-related cancellation on March 15, a total of 20 NYRR race events have now been canceled. All runners registered for canceled races during the COVID-19 outbreak have the option of an entry fee refund or other race resolution choices. This exception to current NYRR race registration policy has been implemented to support the running community during this difficult period. Next week, NYRR will be connecting directly with runners impacted by the canceled races regarding their specific resolution options. Details on canceled race resolutions are available here.

In the days and weeks ahead, NYRR will continue to work closely with government officials regarding the ongoing status of scheduled in-person events and programs with the possibility of additional cancellations.
