New York Road Runners Round-Up: December 2016 Events
Jingle Bell Jog (4M) & Reindeer Run – (at capacity)
Race festivities kick off with the Reindeer Run, for children ages 2 to 12. The youngsters will take off on their runs of varying distances at 8:15 a.m., donning antler headbands and jingle bells on their sneakers. Starting at 9:30 a.m., more than 5,000 runners of all ages, participating in the annual Jingle Bell Jog. The four-mile race will kick off NYRR’s holiday running season, with proceeds benefiting NYRR’s free youth running programs and events that serve more than 215,000 youth across the U.S., including 31,000 right in Brooklyn. Also on hand at the race-day events will be Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, two-time Olympian Donn Cabral, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Ellie Kemper. More information is available here.

NYRR Pete McArdle Cross Country 15K – (on-site registration)
Runners will test their endurance on 15K of rugged terrain while celebrating the late Pete McArdle. The local running legend and Ireland native became an American citizen in 1962 and won the 10,000-meter gold and marathon bronze medals at the 1963 Pan American Games. Following, he was a member of the 1964 Olympic team in the Marathon. More information is available here.

NYRR Ted Corbitt 15K – (at capacity)
Participants will celebrate the late Ted Corbitt, co-founder and first president of NYRR, and the first African American to compete in the Olympic Marathon. In honor of Corbitt’s commitment to community, health and wellness, NYRR will host a food drive in conjunction with the event. Drop off non-perishable food items at our collection tent, located at Race-Day Central (North Meadow Ball Field #8), from 7:00 to 11:15 a.m. Following the food drive, our partners at City Harvest will distribute collected donations to soup kitchens, food pantries, and community food programs across NYC. NYRR Night at the Races Meet 1 – (open)
The famed Armory will host meets open to individuals, clubs and collegiate runners 18 and over. The first event begins at 7:00 p. m. Event times are on a rolling schedule with heats starting with women and followed by men running fast to slow.

NYRR Midnight Run (4M) – (open)
Thousands of New Yorkers and runners from around the country will start the New Year with this fun four-mile run. With a countdown to midnight beginning at 11:59 pm, the run will start at the stroke of midnight with a spectacular fireworks display. All runners will receive colored light-up armbands and can toast to a healthy New Year at a sparkling cider fluid station on the course. Runners are also welcome to join the free, pre-race celebration beginning at 10:00 p.m. More information is available here.
