Runners of all ages and abilities, including thousands of children, will don antler headbands and jingle bells on their sneakers at this four-mile benefit race. They will also receive a fleece neck gaiter, post-race hot chocolate, and automatic entry in to NYRR’s holiday prize drawing. In the weeks leading up to the race, NYRR will pick ten winners to receive awesome prizes such as show tickets, gift cards, etc. Proceeds from the race benefit NYRR's free youth running programs, events, and resources that serve more than 200,000 students locally and nationally, including more than 120,000 in New York City’s five boroughs.

Participants will celebrate the late Ted Corbitt, the co-founder and first president of NYRR, and the first African American to represent the United States in the Olympic Marathon. The ultra-marathoner was inducted into the 2013 NYRR Hall of Fame, and in July of 2014, 228th Street in Harlem—near where Corbitt lived for much of his life—was renamed Ted Corbitt Way.

Thousands of New Yorkers and runners from around the country will start the New Year off on the right foot with this fun four-mile run. With a countdown to midnight beginning at 11:59 pm, the run will begin on the stroke of midnight, as will a spectacular 15 minute fireworks display to light up the night and start of 2016. Runners will receive colored light-up shoe laces as a give-away and can toast to a healthy New Year at a sparkling cider fluid station located at the Mile Two Area. Runners and non-runners alike are also welcome to join the free dance party beginning at 10:00 p.m.
