Amateur and Professional Runners to Celebrate New Year at 36th Annual NYRR Midnight Run

Press Releases

WHAT

NYRR Midnight Run

A jubilant parade of spirited runners will come together this New Year’s Eve to dash into the New Year at the NYRR Midnight Run, a four-mile run on the gleaming streets of Central Park. At the stroke of midnight, thousands of participants, led by a talented professional athlete field, will take their first steps into 2015 amidst the sights and sounds of a 15-minute fireworks display. Runners can toast with family and friends at the sparkling cider fluid station halfway into the four-mile course. With the opportunity to write their New Year’s resolutions on their back bib numbers, runners will literally and figuratively start 2015 on the right—or left—foot.

The event is an exciting way to celebrate the New Year for non-runners, too! The pre- and post-race festival at the Central Park Bandshell features a high-energy dance party with a DJ and live performances of electric violins, saxophones, and vocalists. All will have the chance to remember the night with New Year’s party favors and photos from the photo booth located on NYRR’s special blue carpet.

The pre- and post-race festival is free and open to the public from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Spectators and fans are encouraged and welcome to view the fireworks show at the start of the race just south of the 72nd Street Transverse. For more information about this spectacular evening, visit the event home page. Registration is still open.
