Karoline Bjerkeli Grovdal
Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal has finished in third place at all three of her United Airlines NYC Half appearances and will look to one (or two) better that in 2024.
Grøvdal represented Norway at the last three Olympics, with her highest finish being seventh place in the 5,000 meters at the Rio 2016 Games. She has competed at four World Athletics Championships and four European Championships, winning European bronze medals in the steeplechase in 2018 and 10,000 meters in 2016. She also owns 10 individual medals from the European Cross Country Championships, having most recently won three consecutive golds at the event.
Grøvdal grew up as both a competitive runner and cross-country skier, choosing to focus on the former by the time she reached her teenage years. She has often been hailed in the Norwegian press as the next Grete Waitz, the Norwegian marathon runner and former world-record holder who won nine New York City Marathons.
