Josh Cassidy Canada

Josh Cassidy is a three-time Paralympian who has competed at the Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio 2016 Games. His highest finish came in the 800 meters at the London 2012 Paralympics, where he was fifth. He is the current Canadian record-holder in the 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters, and marathon.

 

Cassidy won the 2010 London Marathon and then two years later won the Boston Marathon in 1:18:25, which at the time was the fastest wheelchair marathon time ever recorded. He went on to win the Chicago Marathon that fall. He also won bronze in the 5,000 meters at the 2015 Parapan American Games and finished first at the 2019 Los Angeles Marathon. This summer, he was selected as Canada’s flag bearer at the Commonwealth Games.

 

Cassidy was born in Ottawa and grew up as the oldest of 10 children; his family lived both the military life and farm life.
