Daniel Do Nascimento
Daniel Do Nascimento will be making his TCS New York City Marathon debut seven months after breaking the Americas marathon record. In April, he ran 2:04:51 at the Seoul Marathon to finish third and clock the best mark by a marathon runner born outside of Africa. He followed that up with an eighth-place finish at the World Athletics Championships Marathon in July, coming in less than a minute behind the medalists.
Previously, he represented Brazil at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in the marathon and at the 2020 World Athletics Half Marathon Championships in Gdynia, Poland. Images of Do Nascimento fist-bumping and smiling with Eliud Kipchoge mid-race in Tokyo went viral, but Do Nascimento ultimately had to drop out of the race due to the high heat and humidity.
