After nine years in the weight loss business and a lifetime in the theatre business, Melanie decided to follow her passion for nurturing runners and received her RRCA coaching certification in 2015, followed by her RRCA Level 2 certification in 2018.
A member of Hellgate Road Runners in Astoria, Melanie has completed 20 marathons to date, plus countless other races of various distances. Aside from coaching with NYRR, Melanie was the lead coach for JackRabbit’s winter Half Marathon programs in Manhattan, as well as the Run4Fun Youth Running Club in Brooklyn, and also leads community runs with Athleta out of their Columbus Avenue store.
Melanie is proud to be one of the earliest coaches for group training, is Lead Coach for Astoria Park and Extended Tempo Thursdays in Central Park, and is thrilled with how this program has continued to thrive and grow over the last several years. Melanie’s favorite thing about the NYC running scene is the sense of community, and truly thinks runners are among the friendliest and most welcoming people.
