New York Road Runners to Host Inaugural NYRR Newport Fiesta 5K in Jersey City on May 4
Michelob ULTRA will host THE ULTRA CLUB post-race celebration area and other sponsor activations throughout Jersey City

Prior to the race, Rising New York Road Runners, NYRR’s free youth running program and events platform, will host youth races starting at 3:00 p.m. featuring three stages for various ages and abilities. Additionally, Rising New York Road Runners will host a fitness festival from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. featuring fun activities for the entire family including an activation from the New Jersey Devils.
The NYRR Newport Fiesta 5K starts at 5:00 p.m. and the post-race celebration continues until 8:30 p.m. featuring food trucks, live music, and games and activities. Michelob ULTRA will serve as the exclusive beer sponsor and will host THE ULTRA CLUB, which features the ULTRA Run Mobile Unit and the ULTRA Pure Gold Camper. Leading up to the race, Michelob ULTRA will host onsite activations and free giveaways around Jersey City. The following locations will be participating on the following dates:
• April 25, 4:00-5:30 p.m. – Dorrian's Red Hand (555 Washington Blvd.)
• April 25, 6:00-8:00 p.m. – Buddy Who's (247 Washington St.)
• April 26, 7:00-9:00 p.m. – Grove Corner Bar (116 Newark Ave.)
The NYRR Newport Fiesta 5K will take runners on a tour of downtown Jersey City highlighting local businesses, City Hall, and views of the Freedom Tower in lower Manhattan. The start and finish line are located on Washington Street just north of the Newport Parkway. NYRR partnered with the LeFrak Organization, Newport Associates Development Company, and the city of Jersey City to organize a new race and to develop a strategic plan to engage the local community through health and fitness activities. NYRR is has built year-round programs to serve residents and runners of all ages and abilities. Earlier this month, the organization launched NYRR Open Run at Lincoln Park, the first Open Run located outside New York City. Through this initiative, NYRR works with community leaders and volunteers to bring free weekly runs to neighborhood parks.
Additionally, NYRR will grow Rising New York Road Runners in New Jersey. To date, there are nearly 20 schools served in New Jersey. In 2019, NYRR will increase its youth efforts throughout the state
