NYRR Senior Vice President of Youth & Community Services Rachel Pratt to receive her Abbott World Marathon Majors Six Star Finisher Medal in Berlin

New York, September 12, 2018 – Five-time TCS New York City Marathon champion Tatyana McFadden will race in her first BMW Berlin Marathon on Sunday, September 16, representing NYRR Team for Kids. Joining McFadden in Berlin will be a team of more than 80 runners who have trained and will run in support of NYRR Team for Kids, an official charity partner of the 2018 BMW Berlin Marathon.

“I’m so excited to be representing New York Road Runners’ Team for Kids at the Berlin Marathon, the first race in the next series of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, and earning my Six Star Finisher Medal there,” said McFadden. “Being an NYRR Team for Kids Ambassador means a lot to me, as I can be an inspiration to runners of all abilities because running is for everyone from the current to the future.”

NYRR Team for Kids is a dedicated group of adult runners who add meaning to their miles and inspire the next generation of runners by raising money for NYRR’s free youth programs. The money raised by NYRR Team for Kids supports NYRR’s commitment to providing young athletes with effective and affordable fitness programming. Now in its 16th year, the team has raised more than $57 million for the 267,000 young athletes that take part in NYRR’s free youth running and fitness programs across the U.S.

Now in its ninth consecutive year as official charity partner of the BMW Berlin Marathon, NYRR Team for Kids has raised more than $170,000 through its participation in the 2018 edition of the race. Among the team members running this weekend will be Rachel Pratt, senior vice president of youth & community services at NYRR. Both Pratt and McFadden will be earning their Abbott World Marathon Majors Six Star Finisher Medals when they cross the finish line in Berlin this Sunday.

“Completing all six of the Abbott World Marathon Majors has been a goal of mine since 2014 when I crossed the finish line at the Chicago Marathon, which was my third major to complete,” said Pratt. “It will be so special to earn my Six Star Finisher Medal in Berlin with New York Road Runners’ Team for Kids. The opportunities we provide at New York Road Runners to young athletes, at no cost, are made possible by this dedicated team, and I’m honored to run alongside Tatyana and the rest of the team again this weekend.”

Following Sunday’s BMW Berlin Marathon, McFadden will next race with Team for Kids on November 4, when she returns to the 2018 TCS New York City Marathon. McFadden will be vying for a record-breaking sixth title in New York.
