This race honors the late Percy Sutton, who as Manhattan borough president in the 1970s championed the New York City Marathon as a five-borough event. The run celebrates historic Harlem and is part of HARLEM WEEK, one of the northeast area's largest cultural celebrations. In addition to the 5K run, this family-friendly event also encompasses a Health Walk and Kid’s races. NYRR’s Run for the Future program, which provides college scholarships to young women in New York City schools culminates at this event, with the young women running their first 5K after training all summer.
