A Quarter-Mile With Woodside-Sunnyside Runners

Woodside-Sunnyside Runners

Name: Jason Molina

Club: Woodside-Sunnyside Runners

Fartlek or tempo? Fartlek. I like the change of pace within a single run.

Favorite NYRR race? The TCS New York City Marathon, the best running party in the world.

Favorite race distance? Half-marathon.

Favorite distance to run?
Anywhere between 3-5 miles in the morning gives me the energy to get through the day.

Running hero? My friend April Gutierrez. In 2013, I ran the Coogan's 5K with her, my first NYRR race. It completely changed my life. If not for her, I would not have learned about this running club, which I now co-lead.

Post-race meal? Beer. Trust me, a stout is a meal in itself.

Cold-weather or warm-weather running? Warm-weather. I love my short shorts.

Treadmills: yay or nay?
Yay. It's a good alternative to outdoors when the weather does not co-operate, and it gets me warmed up for a cross-training session in the gym.

Most exotic place you’ve run?
Bruges, Belgium. Beautiful architecture and plenty of cobblestone roads.

Race-day inspiration quote: You got this.

Toughest race course, in your opinion? That I have completed? Probably the TCS New York City Marathon.

Song that makes you want to go faster?
“High Hopes” by Panic! At the Disco

You can run alongside any three people in the world: Who are they?
Jay Radner (the founder of our club), Jason Mraz, and Meb Keflezighi.

What’s the best non-running account you follow on Instagram? @woodsidesunnysiderunners. Oops, I mean @nationalparkservice

Your club, in five words or less? No one gets left behind.
