Una divertida noche de lunes en la Brooklyn R-U-N 5K

Over 4,800 runners had some F-U-N at the NYRR Brooklyn R-U-N 5K. Participating in the Monday night race was certainly one way to shake off those Monday blues as runners changed out of their work clothes and into workout gear to race 3.1 miles around Prospect Park.

Runners were rewarded at the end of a hot and humid race with popsicles, and for many, it was another step in their 9+1 journey toward guaranteed entry to the 2020 TCS New York City Marathon. For some runners, it was also day one of their training for the 2019 edition of the marathon, and what better way to kick off your training than with a fun run in Brooklyn with friends.

John Mulvaney of North Brooklyn Runners broke the tape in 16:17 on home turf, while Angela Ortiz of Distance Project NYC won the women’s race in 17:38.

Post-race, runners stayed around to play lawn games, grab some post-race bites from the participating food trucks, and experience disco yoga.

Looking for another fun community run? Did you know that the NYRR Summer Community Run — Runner Heat is now a TCS New York City Marathon-qualifying event? There are also walking and stroller heats at this inaugural event, set for August 18, which encourages participation by all.
