Each week, A Quarter-Mile with will feature a club captain/runner as NYRR spotlights our club runners. This week, we focus on Tony Vicente of the Hoboken Harriers. 

Fartlek or tempo? Fartlek.

Favorite NYRR race? New Balance 5th Avenue Mile or NYRR Team Championships

Favorite race distance? Half-Marathon.

Favorite distance to run? Five miles.

Running hero? Carlos Lopes. He won Portugal's first Olympic gold medal in 1984 in Los Angeles at the age of 37. He won this medal running the marathon.

Post-race meal? Pizza and a pint of Häagen-Dazs, but not at the same time.

Cold-weather or warm-weather running? Cold.

Treadmills: yay or nay? Nay, but they do make great clothes racks. 

Most exotic place you’ve run? Among the old windmills in Vila Verde dos Francos, Portugal.

Race-day inspiration quote? "Long distance running is 90% mental and the other half is physical."—Rich Davis.

Toughest race course, in your opinion? Escape to the Palisades Half-Marathon in Fort Lee, New Jersey.

Song that makes you want to go faster? "212" by Azealia Banks.

You can run alongside any three people in the world: Who are they? Three of my friends.
