Available free of charge, the app features runner-tracking capabilities including on-map tracking, runner detail page, pro-athlete bios, and essential race day information.

Getting to the Start

The staging area—greatly expanded from 2018—is at the Nethermead in Prospect Park, and will have three entry points: Ocean Avenue and Lincoln Road, Parkside Avenue and Prospect Park Southwest, and 16th Street on Prospect Park Southwest. Check out the start map

Public Transportation 

We strongly recommend you take public transportation to the start. If you’re in Wave 1, 2, or 3, please take the F or G train to 15th Street-Prospect Park or Fort Hamilton Parkway. If you’re in Wave 4 or 5, please take the Q or S to Prospect Park.  

Note: If you are in Waves 1-3 and you plan to check a bag, but you exit the subway at Parkside Avenue, you will have to walk approximately one mile to bag check. If you are in Waves 4-5 and you plan to check a bag, but you exit the subway at 15th Street-Prospect Park or Fort Hamilton Parkway, you will have to walk approximately one mile to bag check. Please use the recommended transportation options to avoid congestion.

Car/Taxi-Ride-Share 

Car/taxi drop-off for runners in Waves 1-3 is at 16th Street and Prospect Park Southwest; for runners in Waves 4-5, it’s at Ocean Avenue and Lincoln Road.  

There is no parking at the start. If you plan to drive, park in Lower Manhattan and take public transportation to the start. 

Please be aware that Flatbush Avenue and Grand Army Plaza are part of the race course and will be closed on race morning for set-up.

Start Timelines and Bag Check 

New this year, the United Airlines NYC Half will have five wave starts and three bag-check areas—two of which are on Wellhouse Drive for Waves 1-3 and the final location is in the Smorgasburg parking lot for Waves 4-5. Review the start timeline and start area map to plan your morning. 

Please adhere to the bag-check close time for your assigned wave; if you miss the close time you will not be able to enter your corral on time and will have to start in the next wave. All runners must pass through metal detector screening.  

Goodwill bins will be located in the start corrals for you to deposit extra layers of clothing before you run. 

Wave 1 Timeline 

Runners will be assigned a navy colored bib, stating Wave 1 on it. Corrals are labeled AA-H.  

If you are in Wave 1, you’ll drop off your bag at ZONE 1 (Bibs 1–9999). Please look for signs stating zones and bib ranges when you get to the bag check area at the start. 

Plan your travel to arrive at the start by 6:15 a.m.  

  • Bag check opens 5:30 a.m. 
  • Bag check closes 6:50 a.m. 
  • Corrals open 7:00 a.m. 
  • Corrals close 7:25 a.m. 
  • Start 7:30 a.m. 


Wave 2 Timeline
 

Wave 2 runners, please note the small window of time to enter your corrals. Runners will be assigned a lime colored bib, stating Wave 2 on it. Corrals are labeled A-D.  

If you are in Wave 2, you’ll drop off your bag at ZONE 2 (Bibs 10100-20999). Please look for signs stating zones and bib ranges when you get to the bag check area at the start.

  • Bag check opens 5:30 a.m. 
  • Bag check closes 7:10 a.m. 
  • Corrals open 7:40 a.m.

Wave 3 Timeline 

Runners will be assigned a bright blue colored bib, stating Wave 3 on it. Corrals are labeled A-D.  

If you are in Wave 3, you’ll drop off your bag at ZONE 2 (Bibs 10100-20999). Please look for signs stating zones and bib ranges when you get to the bag check area at the start.

Runners will be assigned a purple colored bib, stating Wave 4 on it. Corrals are labeled A-D.  

If you are in Wave 4, you’ll drop off your bag at ZONE 3 (Bibs 21000-31499). Please look for signs stating zones and bib ranges when you get to the bag check area at the start.

Three Ways to Watch 

Channel 7 Eyewitness News, starting at 6:00 a.m. ET, will offer coverage of the race, including features and interviews with inspiring runners, and live professional athlete race look-ins. This will be made available on WABC-TV, Channel 7 and the ABC app in the New York area and at abc7ny.com.

Pro Race Livestream, live at 7:10 a.m. ET, will cover the men’s and women’s professional athlete races on multiple ABC7 and NYRR social and digital media channels, including abc7ny.com, @abc7NY on Twitter, and /abc7NY on Facebook; and nyrr.org, @nyrr on Twitter and /NewYorkRoadRunners on Facebook.

ABC7 Race Highlights Show, airing from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. ET, will offer condensed coverage of the men’s and women’s professional athlete races, along with features and interviews with inspiring runners. This show will be made available on WABC-TV, Channel 7 in the New York area and abc7ny.com.

Plan Your Post-Finish 

New this year, you’ll finish on West Drive just north of Tavern on the Green in Central Park. Your post-race walk-off—shorter than in 2018—will take you south on West Drive and out of the park at Columbus Circle.  

Claim your checked bag on Central Park West between 60th and 62nd streets and reunite with your family at a location outside of Central Park. Family Reunion (Central Park West between 62nd and 65th streets) is an option, though you should expect crowding.

Confirmation forms were made available to runners on Wednesday, February 20. Forms, which contain your corral assignments, can be downloaded from your NYRR account. 

Runners must pick up their race number, technical shirt, and bag-check bag at the The United Airlines NYC Half Experience Presented by New Balance. Friends and family are welcome to join them for exciting events and programs.

The Experience is free and open to the public, and will take place at the Metropolitan Pavilion, located at 125 West 18th Street in Manhattan. Hours are:

  • Thursday, March 14, 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • Friday, March 15, 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 16, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
