La 25.ª carrera anual trae marcas personales y sonrisas en un fin de semana ajetreado de carreras

Marathon season may be over, but Central Park was a hive of activity all weekend as it hosted three different NYRR races.

On Saturday, ultra runners warmed up the roads at the NYRR 60K (our race report will be live on Monday). And on Sunday, more than 5,000 runners took part in the 25th annual Race to Deliver 4M, as well as the accompanying Rising New York Road Runners event.

The race helps support the organization God’s Love We Deliver, which provides nutritious meals to people in the New York City metropolitan area who are living with severe illness. God’s Love now cooks and delivers 1.8 million meals each year to more than 7,000 people who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves.

On a chilly Sunday morning, Ned Booth of North Brooklyn Runners held off Ryan Prout of Dashing Whippets in a hotly contested duel, with Booth breaking the tape in 20:23. Victoria Kingham of CPTC was the first woman over the line with a time of 22:40.

And despite the drop in temperatures as winter arrives early in New York City, runners and volunteers came out in strong numbers as they looked to complete their 9+1 program to claim guaranteed entry to the 2019 TCS New York City Marathon.

When the adult race finished, kids from the age of 2 to 10 got the chance to show their speed in the RYNRR event at Race to Deliver.

Race to Deliver was part of a packed line-up of weekend running events. Up in the Bronx, Van Cortlandt Park staged the NYRR Fred Lebow Cross Country Championships (5K) and Rising New York Road Runners at the Fred Lebow Cross Country Championships, as well as the aforementioned NYRR 60K on Saturday.

••• 🎉 An absolute party for 37.2 miles 🎉 • The NYC 60K will always hold a special place in my heart. After an extremely painful finish last year, I didn’t think that I would have another go at it this year. But running drew me in, and before I knew it, I found myself registering for this year’s race the first day it opened online 😂 • I felt pretty bad for the first 4 miles. I couldn’t seem to get warm and my calves were tighter than they’d ever been. But lucky for me, the sun came out and picking up the pace for a bit helped as well. 5-24 were pretty uneventful, although I definitely picked up the pace a little too much in the middle. About halfway through the 7th loop, I met @jbkauzya and we ended up running the rest of the race together! Thank you for all the laughs by the way; you made the last leg of the race go by so much faster! • I also got the chance to meet up with an insta friend, @zeinabod in person! Congratulations today and on your 2 marathons before this as well! • I didn’t quite meet the goal I set for myself, but this is a 1.5 hour improvement from last year, and I’m absolutely thrilled with that! • 37.2 miles 6:20:06 10:05/mi ••• #runner #running #runnyc #nycrunners #nyc60k #ultrarunning #nyrr #dashingwhippets #dropthehammer #ONrunning #nevernotON #runONclouds #lululemon #lululemonnyc #runinrabbit #cepcompression #garminfitness #morethanmiles #letyourmindrunfree #runitfast #beatyesterday #fastbraidfriday #embraceambition #runhappy #happilyrunning #runningcommunity #runnersworld #yourworldtorun #runnerscommunity #monitorthebeat

So much came to mind while crossing this finish line at the #nyc60k 37.2 miles race here in #centralpark #nyc earlier this afternoon. And while I gather my thoughts, I think it’s necessary to say some thank you! If you’re wondering what time I finished, it’s 5hours 46min not official though. . . So first to @nyrr for providing the platform and inspiring people everyday through running. Also #teamnyrr #nyrrstaff and #nyrrvols Thank you! . Second, to all of you who have been messaging and texting me. All the support meant a lot to me and really motivated me today. The list will be long, but just some few names: Lydel Tyson, not sure how I would have ran the first 3 laps without you and @kikimakolli the last 2 laps was painful, but you pushed me through. @runningbrina ,you are so supportive even when you where on duty volunteering at this same race; you took the time to check on me. . . Finally, the cheer squad all over the park, I don’t know what the difference would have been without you. And all the individuals who can out to support, I truly appreciate it. . This is what I can give you for now: “Hard Work Works” and “Never Underestimate your Potentials” . More to come, enjoy the rest of your weekend and #staymotivated . 📸 @canaw.us #ultramarathon #ultrarunning #ultrarunner #run #running #runner #runningmotivation #runforlife

NYRR’s next scheduled race is the Jingle Bell Jog on Saturday, December 1 in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, but those looking to get some miles in with their family and friends during the holiday break can sign up for the Virtual Turkey Trot 5K.
