WHO: Rising New York Road Runners from IS 223K, in Brooklyn, Kim Conley, U.S. Olympian and Team New Balance Athlete, Michael Capiraso, NYRR President and CEO

WHAT: Rising New York Road Runners participants from Brooklyn’s IS 223K will receive free running shoes through New York Road Runners (NYRR) and New Balance’s 1 for You 1 for Youth program,* before taking them to Central Park for a 1.7-Mile test run with U.S. Olympian Kim Conley.

The distribution will coincide with bib and shoe pick-up for the 2,500 adult participants of Saturday’s 1 for You 1 for Youth 4-Mile race. In a unique twist, all race participants receive a pair of New Balance running shoes, and in return, 2,500 participants in NYRR's free youth running programs will also receive a free pair of New Balance running shoes.**

The IS 223K students are part of a larger group of 100 Rising New York Road Runners from across New York City that NYRR is providing with the opportunity to attend a week-long, summer running camp in Upstate New York, on August 14. All 100 Rising New York Road Runners attending the summer running camp will receive a free pair of running shoes through NYRR and New Balance’s 1 for You 1 for Youth program.
