On race day, watch runners of all ages and abilities race down a famed mile stretch of Manhattan. The New Balance 5th Avenue Mile will include five Olympic medalists in the professional athlete field. The event will feature specialty heats such as the NYPD/FDNY Mile, the George Sheehan Memorial Miles for runners 60 to 69 and 70+, and the women’s and men’s NYRR Road Mile Championships, featuring top local athletes. There will also be a youth mile, shorter-distance kids’ races for kids ages 2-6, and a youth wheelchair invitational. More information is available here.

Thousands of excited runners will flock to Central Park as they prepare for November’s TCS New York City Marathon, which will be only seven weeks away on Sunday, September 18. The Tune-Up in Central Park provides 18 miles of motivation and camaraderie to carry runners through the challenging preparation phase. More information is available here.

Runners will celebrate the cross country season with the NYRR Kurt Steiner Cross Country race in historic Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. This event is perfect for those who love the trails and classic feel of a cross country course. The NYRR Youth Running Series will also host a 1-mile race at 10:30 a.m., before the 5K race for children ages 7-18. More information can be found here.

NYRR and Ragnar have teamed up to create the newest East Coast Ragnar Trail Relay: Ragnar Trail Wawayanda Lake. Located about 50 miles outside the lights of New York City, Waywayana State Park features a serene lake surrounded by forested hills, and a long stretch of the Appalachian Trail. Teams of eight (or four) members will run relay-style over two days and one night to conquer a set of single-track trails that start and stop at Ragnar Village. More information is available here.
