New York Road Runners Round-Up: February News and Events
NYRR will be hosting events for all ages and abilities this month. Many events are festive and fun for the whole family, with kids’ races, pre- and post-race entertainment, and more. NYRR Gridiron 4M / Longest Football Throw Sunday, February 7, 2016 9 a.m., Central Park, Manhattan

Start your Super Bowl Sunday by testing the strength and accuracy of your arm in the Longest Football Throw contest. Then, participants can run four miles in Central Park to burn off some pre-game energy. Wear your favorite team’s jersey to show your spirit, and make your choice for Super Bowl champion by running under the respective team’s banner near the 2-mile mark. The Millrose Games, which began in 1908, has grown to become one of the most prestigious indoor track and field events in the United States. Since 2014, New York Road Runners has been the title sponsor of the NYRR Millrose Games. NYRR is also the title sponsor of the NYRR Wanamaker Mile, which features some of the greatest milers in the world. Additional highlights include more than 25 events with athletes ranging from the grammar school level to professional athlete status. Al Gordon exemplified NYRR’s motto, Run for Life. He was a standout track runner in college. Gordon was an NYRR board member and benefactor. He started running marathons in his 80s and exercised regularly until the end of his life in 2009—at age 107. This four-mile race is a celebration of health and longevity. |
The 2016 TCS New York City Marathon runner application will close on Sunday, February 21, 2016.

The 2016 TCS New York City Marathon will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016. The runner application, which opened on January 21, 2016, for exactly one month, will close on Sunday, February 21, 2016. For more information about the TCS New York City Marathon, visit the official race page. |
