Malindi Elmore Canada

Malindi Elmore is a two-time Olympian and seven-time national champion who was recently named to her third Olympic team for Canada and will be competing in the marathon at the Paris 2024 Games. She snagged the Olympic qualifying time last September at the Berlin Marathon with a 2:23:30, a personal best and the second-fastest time in Canadian history behind Natasha Wodak.

Elmore made her first Olympic team in 2004, running the 1,500 meters on the track. She retired from competitive athletics in 2012, had two children, and took up triathlon. Shortly after the birth of her second son, she came out of retirement in 2019 to race the Houston Marathon, and then broke the Canadian record (2:24:50) in her third-place finish in Houston in 2020. With that performance, she qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where she finished ninth in the marathon.

Elmore was a six-time All-American at Stanford University and has worked as both a teacher and a coach. She lives in British Columbia with her husband, Canadian Olympian and Pan American Games gold medalist Graham Hood, and their children Charlie and Oliver. Last year during the Canadian wildfires, the family had to pack their belongings in their cars and evacuate their home.
