Eden Rainbow-Cooper
Eden Rainbow-Cooper won the Boston Marathon in April—her first Abbott World Marathon Majors victory—after finishing as the runner-up at both the Tokyo and Berlin Marathons. The racing chair she competed in was purchased through funds she raised with the help of friends and family.
She was fourth in her first race with New York Road Runners—the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon—and owns a silver medal in the marathon from the 2022 Commonwealth Games and a victory from the 2023 Cape Town Marathon.
Rainbow-Cooper was born with sacral agenesis, a neurological disorder that affects the body below the waist. She began wheelchair racing in 2013, inspired by former TCS New York City Marathon champion David Weir winning four gold medals at the London 2012 Paralympics. She trains under Arno Mul of the Netherlands.
