C.J. Albertson, the world-record holder in the 50K, will make his TCS New York City Marathon debut. He finished fifth at this year’s U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, and seventh at the 2020 edition of the event.

At the 2021 Boston Marathon, Albertson broke away from the pack and led the race for the first 20 miles before fading to 10th place.

Albertson broke the 50K world record in 2022 by running 2:38:43 at the Ruth Anderson Memorial Endurance Run in San Francisco, and he also holds the indoor marathon world record, having run a 2:17:59 at The Armory in New York in 2019.

Albertson ran collegiately for Arizona State and is now based in Fresno, Calif. He lives with his wife, Chelsey, and their children Luke and Noelle, and teaches physical education and coaches track and cross-country at Clovis Community College.
