Seventh Annual Run as One, Presented by JPMorgan Chase

This annual four-miler began in 2003 to embrace a cause that truly matters: the fight against lung cancer, the #1 killer among all cancers. The race has become one of the most popular on the NYRR calendar, and this year’s event once again drew thousands of runners and walkers to Central Park. With spring racing season in full swing, the men’s and women’s winning times were super-speedy.

Some participants ran or walked in memory of loved ones lost to lung cancer.


Brooklynites Anri Xhelilaj, Jason Hernandez, and Alesksy Schulein bonded before the start.

Tom Labrecque, Jr., the president of the Thomas G. Labrecque Foundation, spoke before and after the race.


Race conditions were ideal—58 degrees and partly cloudy—and Central Park was awash with color.


Helin Jung and Carlo Canepa ran together in the early stages.


Despite the serious nature of lung cancer, the race celebrated life and hope.


No matter what their pace, runners and walkers enjoyed a gorgeous day in the park.


Stephen Chemlany of the Westchester Track Club (WTC) broke the tape in 18:15.


The women’s winner was Aziza Aliyu, also of WTC, in a very fast time of 20:58.


Spectators showed their support for the thousands of finishers.

A 1.3-mile Health Walk began 20 minutes after the start of the 4-mile event.

Children’s activities took place in Rumsey Playfield and included face painting…
