Children united for a morning of fun at the adidas Run for the Parks kids races.

Fans came out to support the Jaguars of PS 180, an NYRR Foundation-supported running team.

And they’re off! Kids races were grouped into five sections of different distances according to age.

The happy vibes from the kids races stayed in effect at the adults’ starting line.

The start was a model of diversity as members of many local running teams took the lead.

A precursor to Earth Day, the adidas Run for the Parks focuses attention on the maintenance and improvement of our city’s green spaces.

Uiegayehw Girma of the Westchester Track Club took top honors in 18:32, finishing 36 seconds ahead of runner-up and teammate Endale Abiyot.

Maria Alves-Veira of the West Side Runners was more than happy to finish first among women in 23:34. She and Girma won $500 adidas gift certificates.
