The Sixth Annual Run As One, TGL Classic Presented by JPMorgan Chase has become one of the most popular events on the NYRR spring calendar.
|
The event, which features a 4-mile run and a 1.3-mile health walk, is suited to participants of all ages and fitness levels.
|

The mid-April race date lets thousands of runners and walkers enjoy Central Park in its early-spring glory. |
Some people take part in honor or in memory of friends or family members who have battled cancer.
|

The competition is fierce at the front of the field, thanks to a generous prize purse and the inclusion of the race in the NYRR team-points series. |

Farther back in the pack, some participants run or walk with family members. |

Gloves and a hat in April? When it’s 49° at the start, the extra layer felt just right. |
Nonetheless, there was no mistaking the day’s spring-like feeling.
|

The event honors the memory of Tom Labrecque Sr., who died of lung cancer at age 62 despite having never smoked. His widow, Sheila Labrecque (#1) attends the event each year. |
The Thomas G. Labrecque Foundation raises money and awareness in the fight to find a cure for lung cancer.
|
The men’s race was a barn-burner, with the top three finishing just yards apart.
|
The women’s race was also closely contested; winner Aziza Aliyu finished in 21:43.

Bonnie Johnson and David Pope make running fast look much too easy. |

Same shirt, same pace, and doubled satisfaction. |

Presumably, #5464 will share the bagel and apple with #5463—and maybe even with #5416. |

Frank Capoano (#5583) seems unconcerned that Heather Jacobson has taken an early lead in the bagel-eating competition. |

At a note board at the check-in/finish area, participants could add words in memoriam or encouragement. The board ended up covered with tributes and congratulations… |

…and these friends’ faces illustrated the day’s message as well as any words could. |

Post-race activities included a fun zone for young athletes. |

This finisher is taking full advantage of the post-run festivities; the bagel mirrors her expression. |
