Race Results

Unless otherwise indicated, New York Road Runners will post results immediately after a scored race near the awards ceremony, on this Web site, and in a book in the NYRR lobby the same day.

Online results are searchable and include all finishers, award winners, and race statistics such as total finishers and finishers by age group and gender. Race photos generally are posted a few days after the race. Viewers may use search functions to obtain results listings in a number of ways, including order of finish (all, men, or women), by name, by participant number, by age group, and by team. Results can be displayed in groups of 50 or 500.

Results Categories

Following are definitions of categories within NYRR results listings:

Age place: Place within a participant's gender and age group.

Gender Place: Place within a participant's gender (men or women).

Finish Time: Participant's official time, the net time, is recorded from when a participant crosses the start mats to when he or she crosses the finish mats. This official time is used to establish the order of finish and to determine award winners. However, the first male and female runner to cross the finish line will always be the winner of the race.

Net Time: Participant's unofficial time from when they cross the starting line until they cross the finish line. Any net or split times provided are in addition to the official time (see above) and for informational purposes only. NYRR has recorded net times for selected races since 2000. Prior to that no net time data is available.

Pace per mile: Pace per mile according to the net time if available (or official time otherwise).

Split times (if available): Net time at split location.

Age-graded (AG) time: Net finish time adjusted to that of an open division participant using a factor for age and gender. Thus, older participants' times are adjusted downward and open division participants' times remain the same. This, in effect, puts all participants on a level playing field, regardless of age. Age-graded tables were updated in January 2005. [Age-grading standards]

Age-graded (AG) gender place: Age-graded time rank within gender.

Age-graded performance level percent (AG %): Ratio of the world-class time for an individual's age and gender divided by the individual's actual time. A performance level of 100% is approximately the world-record level, 90% equates to world class, 80% is national class, and 70% is regional class.

A note about age-grading: Age-graded results are provided to allow participants to compare their time to a standard for their gender and age and also to compare themselves with others, regardless of age. Age-graded results do not affect race awards.
