Kick off the New Year with a spectacular fireworks and laser light show at the Emerald Nuts Midnight Run. Join the fun and celebrate with a costume parade, dancing, and much more.

Party Location

Dancing and the costume contest will be held at the Central Park Bandshell, just south of the 72nd Street Transverse in Central Park, New York. The closest entrance is at Fifth Avenue and 72nd Street.

Course

All courses are subject to change. Check back here the day before the race for final confirmation.

Details to come. Start on the 72nd Street Transverse heading east. Turn left (north) on East Drive. Continue north to the 102nd Street Transverse. Turn left (west) onto the 102nd St Transverse and turn left (south) onto West Drive. Continue south on West Drive to the 72nd Street Transverse. Turn left (east) onto the 72nd Street Transverse to the finish line near the entrance to Cherry Hill.

Race Souvenir

All participants will receive a long-sleeve shirt plus a special souvenir. Size satisfaction is subject to availability.

Number Pick-up/Registration

Entrants are required to pick up their numbers and race souvenirs in advance. Materials may be picked up at NYRR, 9 East 89th Street, on:

• Tuesday, December 29, 1:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
• Wednesday, December 30, 1:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
• Thursday, December 31, 11:00 a.m.-10:30 p.m.

If checking in on race day, be sure to allow yourself enough time to get from NYRR to the festivities (approximately a mile away). There is no registration or number pickup in Central Park.

Note: Bathrooms, bag storage, and changing facilities will not be available at the NYRR building after 8:00 p.m. on race day. This run is a fun run and results will not be posted online.

Participant Photos

Baggage

Complimentary baggage storage will be provided on Center Road, just west of the Bandshell. Please leave valuables at home. New York Road Runners is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Emerald Nuts Nuttiest Exercising Experience

Relive your memories and enter the Emerald Nuts Nuttiest Exercising Experience of 2009 contest! In 50 words or less, tell us the nuttiest thing you experienced this year whileexercising and win an Emerald Nuts backpack full of goodies!

Contest rules:
  • Submit your Nuttiest Exercising Experience in 2009 to EmeraldNutsNewYear@nyrr.org between Dec. 2 – Dec. 28, 2009. Entries must be in by Dec. 28, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. to be considered
  • Entry should creative and/or humorous but should be family friendly
  • Entries must be 50 words or less
  • Include your full name and a contact phone number with your submission
  • The winning Nuttiest Experience in 2009 will be announced at the Emerald Nuts Midnight Run on December 31, 2009 (the winner will be notified 1 to 2 days prior to the race)
  • The prize is an Emerald Nuts backpack, including gear and snacks. Winner must be present to claim their prize.  

Emerald Nuttiest Costume Contest

Don a costume and join the parade! The parade will begin at 11:00 p.m. in front of the Central Park Bandshell just south of the 72nd Street Transverse (line up at 10:45 p.m.).

Prizes will be given to the top six nuttiest designs.

Rules of Competition

All NYRR races are organized and directed under USA Track & Field rules and regulations. Entrants must also comply with City of New York, Parks & Recreation and NYRR rules. Failure to do so may result in offenders being disqualified and possibly banned from NYRR events, including the ING New York City Marathon. [Click here for Rules]

Babystrollers / Babyjoggers are not permitted on the race course.

Fun Run

This is a fun run! Be sure to check your time on the clock as you finish. Your time will not be recorded, and participation does not count toward qualifying for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon.
