About the Race

Update: Due to popular demand, the 6th annual More® Magazine | Fitness® Magazine Marathon + Half-Marathon has reached capacity and is now closed.


Update: Please be advised that the More® Magazine | Fitness® Magazine Marathon will be gun timed. The Half-Marathon will be timed using chip mats and net times will be recorded.

Who can participate?
Women who will be at least 40 by April 26 can participate in the full marathon. The half-marathon is open to all women. Participants must be at least 12 years of age.

 

Time Limit
The races will have a time limit of 6 hours, 30 minutes.* Walkers welcome in the half-marathon as long as they finish within the time allotted.


*This is the only NYRR half-marathon with this time limit. All other NYRR half-marathons have a 3-hour time limit.

Spectator Information

This annual event draws thousands of runners and spectators from near and far to Central Park. Come out on April 26 to motivate a friend or to cheer fellow athletes toward their 13.1- or 26.2-mile goal. The Aquaphor Cheer Zone at East Drive and the 102nd Street Transverse is a great place to catch all of the action with music and a fun atmosphere for fans and runners alike!

Participant Photography

brightroom will be photographing all race participants. Make sure your race number is clearly visible on the front of your shirt so you can be easily identified. Stay tuned for more information.


Awards

To honor the most competitive marathoners and half-marathoners, the top three finishers in each race will receive an award. To honor the masters competitors, the top-three 40+ finishers in the half-marathon will also receive an award.


Each of these award recipients will receive a gift card courtesy of Tommy Bahama. Each top 3 winner will receive a pair of MBT shoes. Both the gift card and the shoes will be mailed at a later date.

 

Race Scoring
This is a scored race that counts toward the nine races NYRR members need to qualify for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2010. The race will be timed using the ChampionChip® system with full results available at www.nyrr.org. You must complete the race with your chip attached to your shoe or your time will not be recorded. Start mats will remain open approximately 10 minutes after the race start, after which net times will not be recorded. Please follow the instructions in your race packet on attaching the chip to your shoe and then returning the chip following the race. Note that you will be charged $35 if you do not return the chip within 20 days.

Baggage Facilities
Free baggage facilities will be provided as a convenience. Bring an inexpensive bag in which to put your items. Pin the baggage tag that is attached to your number to your bag. Please leave your valuables at home. NYRR is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

 

Rules of Competition
All NYRR races are organized and directed under USA Track & Field rules and regulations. Entrants must also comply with Parks & Recreation and NYRR rules. Failure to do so may result in offenders being disqualified and possibly banned from NYRR events, including the ING New York City Marathon. For the safety of all participants and to satisfy insurance requirements, no headphones, skates, strollers, or animals are permitted in NYRR events. Participant numbers must be fully visible at all times.
