NYRR Al Gordon Snowflake 4-Mile - Saturday, February 23 / Central Park, New York / Men/Women: 9:30 a.m. / Q

Note: Due to unsafe road conditions resulting from inclement weather, the NYRR Al Gordon Snowflake 4-Mile has been designated a fun run. Men and women will start together at 9:30 a.m.; there will not be a separate men's start at 8:00 a.m. The race will not be scored and will not be a points race for NYRR team competition. Registered entrants will receive credit for one of the nine races that are part of the eligibility requirements for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2009. Registration is open at NYRR at 9 East 89th Street until 7:00 p.m. Friday and 7:30-9:15 a.m. Saturday.

Come out for the run and be inspired by Al Gordon, a 106-year-old NYRR board member and benefactor.

Course

4M Course: Start on 102nd Street Transverse; head west and south onto West Drive; continue south on West Drive until 72nd Street Transverse; head north from 72nd Street to finish on 102nd Street Transverse. [Course Map]

Number Pickup /Registration

Entrants are required to pick up their numbers, scoring chips, and race souvenirs at New York Road Runners (9 East 89th Street) on:

• Thursday, February 21, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
• Friday, February 22, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
• Saturday, February 23, 7:30-9:15 a.m.

Race souvenirs may also be picked up after the race at NYRR while supplies last. Number pickup/registration and race souvenir pickup will not take place in Central Park.

Post-Race

Results, bagels, fruit, and water will be distributed on site after the race. Awards can be picked up at NYRR. [Awards breakdown]

Race Scoring

This is a scored race that counts toward the nine races NYRR members as of January 2008 need to be eligible for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2009. The race is timed using the ChampionChip® system. You must complete the race with your chip attached to your shoe or your time will not be recorded. Please follow the instructions in your race packet on attaching the chip to your shoe and then returning the chip following the race. Note that you will be charged $35 if you do not return the chip within 20 days.

Baggage Facilities

Free baggage facilities will be provided as a convenience. If using this baggage service, bring an inexpensive bag and leave your valuables at home. New York Road Runners is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Rules of Competition

All NYRR races are organized and directed under USA Track & Field rules and regulations. Entrants must also comply with City of New York, Parks & Recreation and NYRR rules. Failure to do so may result in offenders being disqualified and possibly banned from NYRR events, including the ING New York City Marathon. [Click here for rules.]
