TIMELINE
Please read the corral loading instructions below for more information and to best plan your race strategy:
• 5:30 a.m: Start Corrals Open
• 6:35 a.m: Corral Entrances Closed and 90th Street Entrance Closed
• 7:00 a.m: Race Begins!
• 7:15 a.m: Scoring mats removed from roadway
SEEDED CORRALS
To accommodate the large popularity of this event, the 2008 NYC Half-Marathon will utilize a seeded corral system to start the race. Runners will be assigned to corrals according to their per-mile pace with faster runners in the front and slower runners in the rear. Each corral will have a color code that corresponds to the color on the runners’ race number (bib). Please see below to figure out how your bib number corresponds to your corral number.
Corral 0 = 0-999 Blue
Corral 1 = 1000-1999 Red
Corral 2 = 2000-2999 Yellow
Corral 3 = 3000-3999 Green
Corral 4 = 4000-4999 Orange
Corral 5 = 5000-5999 Aqua
Corral 6 = 6000-6999 Pink
Corral 7 = 7000-7999 Purple
Corral 8 = 8000-8999 Grey
Corral 9 = 9000-9999 Brown (see bib #)
Corral 10 = 10000-10999 Brown (see bib #)

CORRAL LOADING
Corrals will be loaded in the following fashion:
5:30 – 6:35 a.m.
0 to 4 Runners will enter park at East 90th Street and 5th Avenue and backload southward into corrals
5 to 7 Runners will enter park at East 90th Street and 5th Avenue and frontload northward into corrals
8 to 15 Runners will enter park at East 97th Street and 5th Avenue and backload southward into corrals
6:35 – 7:00 a.m.
0 to 15 Runners will enter park at East 97th Street and 5th Avenue and join the back of the line (corrals close at 6:35 a.m.)
Runners should plan on being in their appropriate corral by 6:30 a.m. as the corrals close promptly at 6:35 a.m. For safety reasons, runners must line-up inside the corrals and may not wait in the recreation/emergency vehicle lane.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING
• The timing mats at the start line will be removed from the roadway promptly at 7:15am. Runners who have not crossed the start line by this time will not receive a recorded chip time.
• Trash receptacles will be available in each corral as well as along the course. For the safety of runners and park patrons, please put all trash (including water cups and gel packs) into proper trash receptacles.
• Runners are required to pick up their numbers, scoring chips, and participant shirt at the Expo. Runners, who believe they have been assigned to a corral that is too slow for their pace, must bring proof of per mile pace at the Expo. Absolutely no race numbers or ChampionChips will be available on race morning.
• Runners who are assigned to different corrals but wish to start together may do so by going to the corral corresponding to the higher number.
• NYRR reserves the right to disqualify anyone who:
o does not line up in the appropriate corral
o does not follow the instructions of race officials
o does not use the portable toilets provided
o does not stay within the delineated lanes along the course
