Course
All courses are subject to change. Check back here the day before the race for final confirmation.

Start on the Coney Island Boardwalk at West 2nd Street. Head west to a turnaround at West 36th Street and proceed east. Exit off West 10th Street and continue east on Surf Avenue to Ocean Parkway. Turn left/north onto Ocean Parkway to Prospect Expressway to Park Circle. Enter Prospect Park at Park Circle and head east on South Lake Drive. Continue around the northern end of the park, returning south on West Drive. Turn left/east onto Hill Drive and left/north onto East Drive. Turn left/west on Central Drive to the finish.

Number Pickup/Registration
Entrants are required to pick up their numbers, scoring chips, and race souvenirs at New York Road Runners (9 East 89th Street) on:


• Thursday, May 1, 1:00-7:00 p.m*.
• Friday, May 2, 1:00-7:00 p.m.*

At the registration tent in Asser Levy Park (Between Seabreeze and Surf Ave) on:


• Saturday, May 3, 7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m.

Please note that the souvenir for the NYRR Half-Marathon Grand Prix Presented by Continental Airlines: Brooklyn will only be available at the start of the race. No shirts will be given out afterwards.

Directions
Via Transit: The F or Q train will take runners to the start. Please check the MTA website for schedule information. [Subway Map] [MTA Weekend Travel Advisory]

By Car: NYPD will begin towing Sea Breeze and Surf Ave from West 10th toward Ocean Parkway at 6am and will begin closing roads around the Start at 8:20am. There will be street parking available West of West 10th Street or along Ocean Parkway on the service road that will remain open during the race. The race will begin just across the street from Asser Levy Park on the boardwalk at 9 a.m. (sharp). If you need more clarification on the roads around this area, please check out www.google.com/maps. If you parked your car in Coney Island, it will be up to you to get back to Coney Island via the F or Q trains. Please check the MTA website for schedule information.

By Bus From NYRR: NYRR will provide bus transportation from Manhattan to the start. Buses will leave from the corner of East 90th Street and Fifth Avenue at 6:30 a.m. sharp. Bus tickets cost $6. Seats are limited. Registration for the bus will close at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 11. Note that this is a one-way bus only. NYRR is not offering return transportation to Manhattan after the race. Runners must pick up their bus ticket during registration hours on Thursday, May 1, or Friday, May 2. No one without a bus ticket will be allowed on the bus.

 

Time Limit
Participants will be timed up to three hours. After that time, medical facilities and refreshments will not be available. Members who finish after three hours can receive credit toward qualifying for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2009 but will not have a time listed in the race results; e-mail results@nyrr.org to get credit for the race.

 

Post-Race
Awards will be given in all applicable NYRR age categories. [Awards breakdown]
