Sunday, January 21 • 8:30 a.m.

One of the biggest fields of the year—more than 6,000 finished last year—is drawn to the challenging hills of Manhattan's Central Park for the first half-marathon of 2007. Participants include large numbers of marathoners assessing their fitness, along with plenty of shorter-distance specialists looking to extend their range to the 13.1-mile distance. The first race of the series makes for a bracing start to the new year.

Course
All courses are subject to change. Check back here the day before the race for final confirmation.

The race will start on the East Drive at 84th Street. Runners will head north and complete 2 loops of the outer loop of the park. On the second lap, runners will turn onto the 102nd St Transverse and finish.

Number Pickup/Registration
Entrants are required to pick up their numbers, scoring chips, and race souvenirs at New York Road Runners (9 East 89th Street) on:

· Thursday, January 18, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
· Friday, January 19, 1:00-7:00 p.m.
· Saturday, January 20, 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
· Sunday, January 21, 7:00 a.m.-8:00 a.m.

If picking up on event day, be sure to allow yourself enough time to get from NYRR to the start (approximately five blocks away). Race souvenirs may also be picked up after the race at NYRR while supplies last. Number pickup/registration and race souvenir pickup will not take place in Central Park.

Note: Participants must be at least 12 years old.

Time Limit
Participants will be timed up to three hours. After that time, medical facilities and refreshments will not be available. Members who finish after three hours can receive credit toward qualifying for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2008 but will not have a time listed in the race results; e-mail results@nyrr.org to get credit for the race.

Post-Race
Join us indoors after the race for hot chocolate, bagels, and the awards ceremony at P.S. 171 (19 East 103rd Street between Fifth and Madison Avenues). Awards will be given in all applicable NYRR age categories. [Awards breakdown]
