Senior Fitness Program
Free and open to men and women age 60 and over, this program features guided group walks of up to 3 miles through Central Park.Groups meet at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the NYRR Information Kiosk, located on the bridle path near Central Park’s East Drive at the East 90th Street entrance (Engineers’ Gate).
There is no preregistration and NYRR membership is not required. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for walking. Bags may be left at NYRR at 9 East 89th Street or in the locked Information Kiosk.
Two walk leaders are assigned to each group. One leads a 1.6-mile flat walk around the Central Park Reservoir, lasting about one half hour; the other leads a varied walk of approximately 3 miles, lasting about an hour, with an emphasis on exploration and diverse route choices.
An annual Senior Fitness Program luncheon is held at NYRR in December.
